Jewish Care recently partnered with Caitlin Wainrib, Director and Oral Health Therapist at Mobile Dental Clinics Australia (MDCA), and a member of the Jewish Community, to provide a dental screening program for residents at Montefiore Homes Community Residence and Smorgon Family Nursing Home.

The two-day visit saw 60 residents from Jewish Care’s aged care residences screened for dental hygiene and health.
After the initial assessments and screening has been completed, MDCA return to consult with each resident and advise them on their dental needs and any treatment they require. With a mobile kit at hand, simple procedures such as cleaning, extractions and fillings can be done on-site in the comfort of the resident’s familiar surroundings.Jewish Care’s Chief Operating Officer, Hugh Cattermole said: “In aged care, dental health really can become a predictor of wellbeing and longevity. Poor oral health can lead to people not eating properly. We know the screening was useful to address these issues and will have a positive impact in our residents’ lives.”
